Hi, I'm Xu. I'm a fifth year Ph.D student in Human-Computer Interaction Institute, Carnegie Mellon University, advised by Ken Koedinger and Carolyn Rose.My work lies at the intersection of HCI and Learning Sciences. I leverage methods from both disciplines to study how people learn and build intelligent systems that improve human learning, scale to large numbers of learners and are usable in practice. This applies to formal educational settings (e.g., college classrooms), online courses (e.g., MOOCs), and informal learning settings (e.g., software learning).
On the one hand, I study and develop techniques to augment instructor effort towards quality learning materials creation at scale. On the other hand, I study and design AI-based intelligent support for learners towards more efficient skill mastery.
